Here is the transcript of the pre-match press conference with the head coach of Ukraine, Andrea Maldera, ahead of the friendly match against Denmark. Video recording of the press conference available here.

— What can we expect from your team tomorrow, what approach will you take? Will there be any changes compared to what we saw against Poland? And what do you generally want to see from your team tomorrow?

— I would like the team to continue playing with the same attitude and character, and to continue giving their maximum technical abilities. In sports, results are always important. But what's more important is the journey. Of course, we need to look at what is happening now. But it’s also important to look towards where we want to go.

The result should be a consequence of the quality of our play. The players' heads are buzzing after our meetings, after theoretical sessions. They are great lads and they listen to everything I tell them. And that is most important.

— Ruslan Malinovskiy has joined the team. Perhaps he has a special role given that you can communicate with him in your language? And overall, how do you evaluate his role in your national team?

— Ruslan is like all other players I already knew before. He is certainly very valuable to our team. But he does not stand out from the rest of the players. They are all very important, and no one is more important than another just because I was familiar with him earlier. Of course, his qualities will be a great help to us in the national team. And we are very happy that he has joined us.

— Can you tell us a bit about the squad situation? Are there any injuries? And is Andriy Lunin with the camp or absent from this gathering?

— Lunin wanted to come, I spoke with him on the phone. He has no injuries. There are some issues at his club. Nothing serious, just some details did not match up and we decided together that he would not come. Of course, it was very disappointing for him.

Apart from Yarmoluk and Vana, thankfully we have no other injuries. I hope this will continue to be the case.

— You've been living in Ukraine for three weeks now. Are you already using any Ukrainian words during training and in everyday life?

— I am learning the Ukrainian language. By the way, my translator will be my teacher starting from July. Right now, I know "borscht" and "thank you." Thankfully, football is an international language that everyone understands. But I will start to learn Ukrainian more seriously. I like learning languages, and it will also help me understand people better.

— Can we expect changes in the starting lineup compared to the match against Poland?

— I can say that Malinovskiy and Zabarny will be in the starting lineup.

The friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine will take place on Sunday, June 7th. Kick-off at 19:30 Kyiv time.
