Dmytro Kryskiv: "Team cohesion and following the coach's demands will lead to positive results"
Ukrainian national team midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv shared his thoughts on the team's preparations for the upcoming Nations League matches and the October opponents of the Blue and Yellows.
On October 8, in the Polish city of Poznań, the Ukraine national team held its first training sessions almost in full squad as part of the preparations for the Nations League 2024/2025 matches. Kryskiv expressed his feelings about the start of the training process.
"I have only positive emotions. I met with the guys I’ve known for a long time and haven’t seen in a while. It was the first training session, the pitch was in great condition, and the weather was wonderful — everything was superb. There are many of my friends from the youth national team here, which is great. We talked about game moments and the coach's requirements.
I have been waiting for a call-up to the national team for a long time. I wanted to come here, show what I can do, and help the team. When I saw my name on the list, of course, I was very happy, and my wife was even happier. My parents and sister have been very supportive.
I will approach every training session with full dedication, doing what the coaching staff requires of me. I want to understand the coaches' instructions as quickly as possible. I believe that team's cohesion and following the coach's demands will lead to positive results.
Regarding our opponents, I watched the last match of the national team against Czechia. The Czechs are a tough, athletic team that puts a lot of pressure on the opponent's goal. They send many crosses into the penalty area. It’s a physical, aggressive style of football. We haven’t analyzed the Georgians yet, but I saw them at EURO 2024. They are a technical team, and the players handle the ball well. I am sure we will be shown video footage and given plenty of theory, so we can analyze the Georgian team more thoroughly and in detail.
I have Georgian teammates. Irakli Azarov was not called up, but Giorgi Gocholeishvili will be here. I will be happy to talk with him since he is no longer with Shakhtar (currently on loan at Copenhagen). They said it would be difficult for us, so we should prepare. It will be an interesting game,” said Dmytro Kryskiv.
As a reminder, in October, Serhiy Rebrov's team will play two home matches in Group B1 of the Nations League 2024/2025 in Poland. On October 11, the Blue and Yellows will host Georgia at ENEA Stadion in Poznań in the 3rd round, and on October 14, they will face Czechia at Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław in the 4th round.
