In their opening match of the Euro-2023 (WU-19) first round qualifier in Group A6, Ukraine's women’s youth national team played Austria to a draw (1:1) at the «Shefa'im» stadium. Today, under coach Valeriy Palamarchuks' guidance, they faced Germany—the six-time European and three-time world champions in this age category—at the same venue.
After a scoreless first half, Ukraine took the lead early in the second half. Viktoriya Radionova scored on 54 minutes by directing the ball into an empty net. The blue-and-yellow team held their advantage for quite some time; however, Clara Frelich equalized with a long-range shot at 81 minutes. On the first minute of added time, Cora Zickay delivered the winning goal to Germany.
Thus, a disappointing loss—1:2—and Ukraine now occupies third place in Group A6. The next match for the blue-and-yellow team will be against Israel on November 14th.

In total, 28 teams participate in League A (including eight that moved up from League B based on the results of the second round qualifier for the season-2021/2022 which concluded this spring). They are divided into seven groups. Teams within each group play at a single venue in mini-tournaments.
Teams finishing fourth will continue their season in the second round of League B. The seeding for the teams participating in the second round will depend on the positions they secure in their respective groups during the first round. Belgium also participates despite having an automatic qualification to the final tournament as hosts.
Teams from League B (including those that dropped down from League A after the second round qualifier for season-2021/2022, and Gibraltar's team making its debut in UEFA women’s tournaments) compete across seven groups to earn promotion to League A. Group winners will move up to the higher division.
As a reminder, Ukraine's women’s youth national team retained their spot in League A by securing third place in their group during the second round qualifier for Euro-2022.
