"The Open Football Festivals" took place in Mykhyi, which is in the Mykolaiv region

At the end of September, an autumn "Open Football Festival" took place on the field of a vocational college in the Mykhylivtsi community.

"The Open Football Festivals" took place in Mykhyi, which is in the Mykolaiv region

Active games, football activities, various exercises to develop physical qualities, team tasks — the festival program was rich and dynamic.

Children were constantly on the move, completing tasks, interacting with each other, supporting one another, and enthusiastically participating in every activity.

Some activities had competitive elements, but the main focus was on participation, movement, teamwork, and positive emotions.

The festival is particularly significant in today's circumstances. One of its important goals is to provide psychosocial support for children, especially those of military personnel, internally displaced persons' children, and children from frontline territories.

An important component of the festival was knowledge about safety in wartime. In an accessible game format, participants learned important rules for safe behavior. Educational elements combined with active activities, making useful information easy to absorb and remember better.

Another goal of the festival was to interest children in football and an active lifestyle. For those already captivated by football, it offered a chance to dive deeper into their favorite game, while for others, it provided an opportunity to get acquainted with football, try various activities, and perhaps discover a new passion.

Representatives of the sports and football community of Mykolaiv region participated in the festival — head of the Association of Football of Mykolaiv and Kherson regions Oleksandr Balakin, acting head of the children's and youth football committee of the Association of Football of Mykolaiv and Kherson regions Volodymyr Kovalev, and chief specialist of the Southern Management Department of State Institution "Agency for Mass Sports of Ukraine" Olena Moshyk.

The children were greeted by the head of education, culture, sports and tourism department of Mykhailivska village council Viktoriia Chumak and director of Mykhailivske lyceum Olena Porhun.

Mykhailivske lyceum of Mykhailivska village council was honored with a commendation from the Association of Football of Mykolaiv and Kherson regions for developing and promoting football in Mykolaiv region.

Within the framework of the project, the educational institution's material base was replenished with new modern football equipment that will be used for football lessons, developing children’s physical qualities, active leisure and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The State Institution "Agency for Mass Sports of Ukraine" thanked the project leader, PE teacher of Mykhailivske lyceum Andrii Babiyenko.

The project is implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association within the framework of the donor program "Restoration and Resilience under Youth Leadership in Ukraine" with support from the Association for Cross-Cultural Projects and organization CISU (Civil Society in Development) from Denmark.

The Ukrainian Football Association's "Open Football Festivals" project is:

— youth leadership and volunteer development in communities;

— psychosocial support for children of military personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, internally displaced persons' children, and those affected by war;

— an inclusive environment where everyone participates regardless of abilities and gender, including children with special educational needs;

— knowledge about safety in wartime;

— the philosophy of mass football — joy from playing instead of results at any cost;

— the first football experience for children.
