The Ukrainian Olympic team will participate in an international tournament among U-23 teams in France in June. This will be the 50th anniversary of these competitions.

Ten national teams will take part in the tournament, divided into two groups. The players coached by Ruslan Rotan will face Indonesia (replacing Egypt), Italy, Panama, and Japan.

It's worth noting that the tournament features future participants of the 2024 Olympics — Ukraine, France, and Japan. By the way, our team played a friendly match in March against Japan with a score of 0-2. Additionally, Indonesia may participate in the Games if it manages to defeat Guinea in the intercontinental playoff.

The format of the Olympic tournament is traditional: competition in four groups with four teams each, followed by playoffs where the top two teams from each group compete. Then come quarter-finals, semi-finals, a match for third place and the final (9 August, Paris, "Parc des Princes").

Recall that last summer, our team achieved an historic success — securing a spot at the football tournament of the Olympic Games for the first time by defeating France (3-1) in the quarter-finals of Euro 2023 (U-21) and qualifying for the semi-finals. Along with Ukraine, Spain and Israel earned their spots through the youth Euro 2023.

Currently, 15 participants are already known to compete in the men's football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games from July 24th to August 9th in seven cities across France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, Nice and Nantes. According to the rules, players born after January 1, 2001 can participate in the games. Additionally, each team may include up to three players who are older than this age.

In total, 16 national teams will take part in the tournament: France as host, three from Europe (Ukraine, Spain, Israel), three from Africa (Morocco, Egypt, Mali), three from Asia (Japan, Uzbekistan, Iraq), two from South America (Paraguay, Argentina), two from CONCACAF (USA, Dominican Republic), one from Oceania (New Zealand), and the winner of the playoff between fourth-placed teams in Africa (Guinea) and Asia (Indonesia).
