On March 20, Ukraine learned its opponents for the football tournament at the 2024 Olympics. Placed in the fourth pot, it drew Argentina, Morocco, and the third team from Asia as group V rivals. The blue-and-yellow side will play their matches on July 24th, 27th, and 30th.

According to the draw, our team's first opponent in a game scheduled for July 24th in Lyon will be the third team from AFC. This team was determined today at the Asian Cup-2024 among U-23 teams in Qatar when the bronze medal match took place. Iraq defeated Indonesia in extra time (2:1) and will have the status of Ukraine's first Olympic opponent in football history.

On May 3rd, Japan and Uzbekistan will play for the final at the Asian Cup-2024 to claim spots in the Olympic groups C and D.

The format of the Olympic tournament is traditional: competition in four groups with four teams each, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, third-place match and final (September 9, Paris, "Parc des Princes").

We remind you that last summer, our team achieved a historic success — securing the right for Ukraine to participate in an Olympic football tournament for the first time by defeating France (3:1) in the quarter-final of Euro-2023 (U-21) and advancing to the semi-finals. Along with Ukraine, Spain and Israel also earned their spots at the Olympics through the youth Euro-2023.

As of today, 15 participants in the men's football tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games are already known to be competing from July 24th to August 9th in seven cities across France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Nice and Nantes. According to the rules, players born after January 1, 2001 are eligible to participate. In addition, each team can include up to three players who are older than this age.

In total, 16 national teams will take part in the tournament: France — as hosts, three from Europe (Ukraine, Spain, Israel), three from Africa (Morocco, Egypt, Mali), three from Asia (Japan, Uzbekistan, Iraq), two from South America (Paraguay, Argentina), two from CONCACAF (USA, Dominican Republic), one from Oceania (New Zealand), and also the winner of a play-off between fourth-placed teams in AFC (Indonesia) and CAF (Guinea).
