On March 12, the Ukrainian youth team (players born in 2007 or later) under the leadership of Yuriy Moroz concluded their Elite Round matches for Euro-2024 among players up to 17 years old with a victory over Slovakia (3:0). Considering that earlier, the blue and yellow team managed to defeat Greece (2:0) and Switzerland (3:0), they became the group 4 winners and secured their place in the final tournament.

The main event, featuring 16 teams, will take place from May 20 to June 5, 2024, on Cyprus—on six stadiums in Ayia Napa, Larnaca, Paralimni, and Limassol. In the final stage, which includes the host country based on March qualifying matches results, eight group winners from the Elite Round qualifiers and seven second-place finishers with the best records (Belgium secured a wildcard spot) qualified.

The draw for the final tournament will take place today, April 3, in Ayia Napa, Cyprus (start at 19:00 Kyiv time). Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals. Following that—semi-finals and the final on June 5 in Limassol.

Cyprus and seven best qualifiers among the group winners, according to regulations, will be seeded. The criteria for the seeding are as follows:

— more points earned in the Elite Round qualifier;

— better goal difference;

— more goals scored;

— fewer disciplinary points from yellow and red cards received by players and officials of the teams (red card—three points, yellow card—one point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match—three points);

— higher coefficient ranking position.

Therefore, with the best record among all group winners at nine points and a goal difference of 8-0, Ukraine will be included as a seeded team during the draw.

Basket 1: Cyprus (A1), Ukraine, Portugal, France, Denmark, Italy, Austria, Sweden.

Basket 2: Poland, England, Spain, Serbia, Czech Republic, Wales, Slovakia, Croatia.

Two teams from each basket will be drawn into the groups.

It is worth noting that for the Ukrainian U-17 team, this will be their 11th final tournament of the European Championship.
