The Ukrainian U-17 team became the first to qualify for the final stage of the 2024 European Championship, which will take place in May-June on Cyprus. The wards of Yuri Moroz and his coaching staff joined the hosts and are waiting for the remaining 14 participants of Euro to be announced.

We remind you that in October 2023, Ukrainian boys born in 2007 under the leadership of then still Vladimir Yezersky successfully completed the first qualification stage (opponents - Germany, Finland, Liechtenstein), despite a lack of time for quality preparation. And already at the beginning of March, under Yuri Moroz's guidance, they passed through the elite round of qualifications in one breath: Greece — 2:0, Switzerland — 3:0, Slovakia — 3:0.

For the Ukrainian U-17 team, this is their 11th final tournament of the European Championship. For a long time these competitions were in the U-16 category (up to and including 2001), but the essence hardly changed. It was precisely in the 1990s that Ukrainian boys showed their best results at an international level for U-16/U-17 — they won bronze medals in Ireland in 1994, followed by three consecutive appearances in final tournaments (1996—1998), where they finished third in the group.

After that, our team was in the finals of Euro six times over a period of 20 years. The last time — in 2017 in Croatia, when under Sergei Popov's guidance, boys born in 2000 managed to win their first victory and climb higher than fourth place in the group for two decades.
