President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about one of the largest Russian drone attacks and the necessity to put an end to the history of Moscow despotism.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today our state went through one of the largest Russian drone attacks — 54 drones simultaneously. Almost all of them were shot down. Almost... Unfortunately, there are hits in the Zhytomyr region. We will do everything we can to help and restore what was destroyed.
But still, most of the destructions were prevented, most lives that could have been taken by these drones were saved. I thank everyone who made this possible! Air defense missile forces, air force aviation, anti-aircraft defense troops, and our mobile fire groups... Thank you!
During this terrorist attack, the numerically strongest strike was aimed at Kyiv region. Within the city of Kyiv and its oblast, 36 drones were shot down. This is how Russia celebrates the day of our ancient Kyiv...
Throughout history, Kyiv has witnessed various treacheries from oppressors. It survived them all and will survive the Russians too. None of them will be here! Kyiv and all our cities, every part of our Ukraine, will put an end to the history of Moscow despotism that for a very long time brought subjugation to many nations. Neither drones nor any other means of terror it shamefully seeks around the world will save it. For power lies in people, in cities, and in life; when one disrespects both life and people as well as the most important cultural cities, there can only be a loss for Russia. And even hundreds of drones won't save them from this. They'll just add to Russia's shame.
These days we celebrate Kyiv Day and Oleksandria, Severodonetsk, Kalush, Kryvyi Rih... Cities with different fates but equal respect for us. For our Ukraine. Our faith that we will go through this extraordinary difficult stage of history. We will pass it, and all our cities will be free, while people will be protected from any evil threatening our state.
Today I want to thank everyone who fought and is fighting for Ukraine — all our soldiers, all branches of the armed forces and military services, every brigade, every unit. Thank you! Everyone in battle, on combat missions, at combat posts!
And I thank everyone without whom an effective state resistance and protection of our cities would not be possible. I thank each person who trains our soldiers and helps them recover after injuries. Who produces and supplies weapons. Who ensures our logistics and communication. Thank you to all those providing Ukraine with intelligence information and spreading the truth about war and Russian terror around the world. Thank you to everyone involved in rescue operations following enemy strikes and eliminating their consequences.
I thank everyone in the world who cares and wants freedom's victory as much as we do.
All our energy workers and transporters. Thank you! "Ukrzaliznyzha". Defense industry. All our volunteers. United24 and ambassadors. Thank you! Our law enforcement officers. Local authorities. Workers of communal enterprises. Our education system. Cultural activists. Historians. Everyone who is keeping jobs, and those creating them — despite everything. Our farmers, workers in the agro-sector. Our industry. IT specialists. State officials. Diplomats. I thank everyone strengthening our defense, our state, our people!
That our capital remains free, that our cities are defended with dignity, and that we liberate every currently occupied city — all this is the merit of many people. Of those who fight and work for Ukraine. This is the merit of our mighty nation capable of doing historic things when united, aware of its strength, not forgiving anything to the enemy, and inspiring the whole world.
We will move forward until we liberate all Ukrainian land. We defend every city. We care for each other and remember all our people whom we need to bring home to their cities and villages from Russian captivity.
Glory to our wonderful nation!
Glory to everyone who cares about our state!
Glory to Ukraine!"
