Note for attention - operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 20, 2022 regarding the Russian invasion into our country.

The eighty-sixth day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy is conducting offensive operations in the areas of the populated places of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions significant changes in the state and situation of military units of the republic of Belarus are not observed. The threat of rocket-bombardment strikes from the territory of the republic of Belarus remains.

On the Northern Direction the enemy is conducting engineering fortification of positions in the area of the populated place of Azarova, Bryansk Oblast. Conducted artillery and mortar shelling of the populated places of Boyaro-Lyagachi, Bruski, Starie Vyrky, Sumy Oblast, and Gremyach, Chernihiv Oblast.

On the Kharkiv Direction the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on holding occupied lines. Attempts to conduct counterattacks with the aim of restoring lost positions are being made. Conducts intensified aerial reconnaissance using UAVs.

Ongoing combat operations in the areas of populated places of Terneva and Veselye. In addition, enemy shelling was recorded near Ruski Tishky.

On the Slovyansk Direction the enemy shelled civilian infrastructure in the area of populated places of Dovgenke, Velyka Komisyuva and Dolyna.

On the Donetsk Direction the enemy intensified offensive and storming actions to improve tactical positions. Inflicted fire damage with mortars, field artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and operational-tactical aviation aimed at destroying fortification structures of our units along the entire line of contact.

On the Lyman Direction the enemy periodically shelled civilian infrastructure in the areas of populated places of Dybrova and Zakitne.

On the Severodonetsk Direction the enemy conducted storming actions towards the populated place of Severodonetsk, failed to achieve success, suffered losses and was forced to retreat. Conducts combat operations in the area of the populated place of Toshkivka.

On the Bakhmut Direction with artillery and mortar support, occupiers conducted offensive actions in the area of the populated place of Vyskryva, simultaneously attempting to improve tactical positions near Volodymyrivka and Vasylivka. Russian occupiers suffered losses in the area of the populated place of Oleksandriplia.

On the Avdiivka Direction the enemy conducted storming and offensive actions in the area of the populated place of Veselye with artillery support. Suffered losses and retreated.

On the Kuryahivskyi Direction the enemy carried out massive artillery strikes on civilian infrastructure, including with multiple rocket launchers. Conducted offensives in the areas of Novomikhailivka and Oleksandrivka, failed to achieve success.

On the Novopavlivskyi and Zaporizhzhia Directions enemy fire with rocket and field artillery and mortars damaged infrastructure and civilian housing, conducted counter-battery fire. In the area of the populated place of Novodarivka suffered losses and retreated to previously occupied positions.

On the South Buzhskyi Direction active combat operations were not carried out by aggressors. Shelled residential buildings with mortars and field artillery. Continued engineering fortification of positions and construction of a second line of defense.

The high probability of continued combat actions aimed at improving tactical positions and advancing to the administrative border of Kherson Oblast remains.

On the Bessarabian Direction the situation remained unchanged.

Naval groups of the enemy in the Black Sea and Azov Sea continue to block civilian maritime traffic.

On the Donetsk and Luhansk Directions over the past day, fourteen attacks by the enemy were repelled, eight tanks, fourteen units of armored combat vehicles, and six units of motorized equipment of the enemy were destroyed. Air defense units shot down one UAV of the "Orlan-10" type.
