In the group stage of European supremacy, blue-and-yellow lost to the Netherlands (2:3), thrashed Serbia (6:1), and fell to Portugal (0:1), but secured second place in their group and advanced to the knockout stage. In the quarter-finals, under the guidance of Oleksandr Kosenko, they defeated Kazakhstan (5:3). Thus, the Ukrainian team reached the top four for the first time since 2005 at a European Championship.

In today's semi-final in Amsterdam (February 4th, start at 18.00 Kyiv time), blue-and-yellow will face Russia, which currently holds the top spot in the UEFA ranking. At Euro-2022, this team won Group C by defeating Slovakia (7:1), Croatia (4:0), and Poland (5:1), and then eliminated Georgia (3:1) in the quarter-finals.

The Ukrainian national team has already faced this opponent in final tournaments: three times at European Championships (1996—2:3, 2005—2:1, 2007—1:4), and once—at World Championships (1996—2:3). Our team won one match and conceded three.
