UEFA Europa League. Dynamo Kyiv earns draw against Galatasaray in Istanbul clash

Dynamo Kyiv continued their journey in this year's UEFA Europa League with an away match against Turkish side Galatasaray in the league phase.

In previous tournament matches, the Blues had suffered defeats to Lazio (0:3), Hoffenheim (0:2), Roma (0:1), Ferencváros (0:4), Viktoria Plzeň (1:2) and Real Sociedad (0:3), ending their chances of advancing to the playoffs. Today, they faced Turkish side Galatasaray on the road.

In the early stages of the match, Vivcharenko saved the visitors by clearing the ball off the line after a corner kick. However, just moments later, Sanchez opened the scoring after another corner kick. The Turks continued to create opportunities, and in the 21st minute, Bardakci doubled Galatasaray's lead with a long-range strike deflected off Tymchyk. Before halftime, the hosts could have added more, but instead, Kyiv reduced the deficit when Vanat capitalized on a run from Buyalskyi and beat Muslera.

Early in the second half, Tymchyk fouled in the penalty area, and Osimhen converted the penalty. Afterwards, the hosts missed good chances with Osimhen and Akgyun. In the 68th minute, Dynamo once again reduced the gap — Pikhalyonok’s corner kick was finished by Yarmolenko. The Kyiv side sensed they could achieve more, and at the end of the match, Yarmolenko scored his second goal, heading in Buyalskyi’s cross.

In stoppage time, Neshcheret saved Dynamo with a header from Osimhen. The final result is a high-scoring draw — 3:3 — marking Dynamo’s first point in the current tournament.

Dynamo Kyiv fielded national team players who were involved under Serhiy Rebrov in the November Nations League matches: Shaparenko (yellow card, substituted in the 46th minute), Vanat (goal, substituted in the 90+4th minute).
