Europa League. Ten men Dynamo Kyiv falls short against Ferencváros

Today, Dynamo Kyiv continued their Europa League journey with a nominal home match in the main round against Hungarian side Ferencváros.

The White and Blues started the tournament with losses to Lazio (0:3), Hoffenheim (0:2), and Roma (0:1). Today, they hosted Ferencváros at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

The first half was played at a high tempo, with numerous chances for both teams. Unfortunately, Dynamo was reduced to ten men as early as the 17th minute when Vladyslav Dubinchak was sent off for a harsh tackle. After that, Ferencváros seized the initiative and pressed on Dynamo’s half, creating chance after chance. However, Georgiy Bushchan was flawless in goal.

To their credit, Dynamo did not just defend but also launched quick counterattacks. In the 37th minute, Vladyslav Kabaiev and Vladyslav Vanat tested the Ferencváros crossbar.

The beginning of the second half, however, proved disastrous for Dynamo. First, a defensive error led to Barnabás Varga’s goal, and just two minutes later, an unfortunate deflection off Kristian Bilovar helped Kristoffer Zachariassen double the visitors' lead.

In the 67th minute, Varga completed his brace, heading in a well-placed cross from Kady. Mateus Saldanha continued the rout in the 76th minute, going one-on-one with Bushchan.

Ultimately, Dynamo suffered a 0:4 defeat, their fourth consecutive loss in the Europa League.
