Ukraine futsal team captain Petro Shoturma undergoes surgery in Germany

The captain of the Ukraine national futsal team, Petro Shoturma, has successfully undergone surgery in Germany. This procedure was planned, as reported by the Futsal Association of Ukraine.
The 32-year-old futsal player continues his recovery from a knee ligament injury sustained during the semifinal match of the Futsal World Cup 2024 against Brazil (2:3). The first stage of the surgery was performed three months ago.
“Another stage of my recovery, which has been ongoing for three months, is now complete. The follow-up surgery was successful. The professor informed me that the dynamics and overall process are progressing positively.
Although I feel okay, the swelling, pain, and fatigue have taken a toll on my body. Now I’m facing postoperative recovery, physiotherapy, and all the necessary procedures included in the rehabilitation program. The timing of my return to the court remains uncertain, as each athlete's body and regeneration periods differ.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this time — there have been many kind people and devoted fans.
A special thanks and sincere gratitude go to the Futsal Association of Ukraine, NFK Urahan, and Andriy Shevchenko for their support during this challenging period,” said Petro Shoturma.
