To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 18, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and fortieth day of the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against our state has begun.

Forces of Defense of Ukraine continue to conduct offensive operations on the Bakhmut, Melitopol, and Berdyansk axes.

On the Bakhmut axis, forces of defense are continuing to carry out offensive actions south of the city of Bakhmut. They are consolidating at the achieved lines, delivering artillery fire strikes on identified targets of the enemy, conducting counter-battery measures.

During the past day, the enemy inflicted four rocket and 53 air strikes, carried out 40 shelling with multiple launch rocket systems against our troops positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the past day, 33 combat engagements took place.

On the Volyn and Polissya axes, the operational situation — no significant changes.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi axes, the enemy conducted mortar and artillery shelling of over 20 populated areas. This includes Vilchiki, Mykolaivske in Chernihiv Oblast; Pokrovka, Novodmitrivka, Riasne in Sumy Oblast, and Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Budarki, Stroyivka in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupyansk axis, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions around Sinkyvky of Kharkiv Oblast. Delivered air strikes in the areas of Petro-Pavlivka and Kucherivka, Kharkiv Oblast. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy was suffered by populated areas Dvoriche, Kupyansk, Kucherivka, Kurilivka, Krokhmalne in Kharkiv Oblast and Nadia in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Lyman axis, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions around Bihorivka of Luhansk Oblast. Delivered air strikes in the areas of Bihorivka, Terneve, Yamplya, Severna of Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling by the enemy was suffered by nearly 20 populated areas, including Nevsko, Dibrova, Bihorivka of Luhansk Oblast and Spirene, Zvaryvka, Fedorivka, Rozdolvka of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut axis, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions around Bogdanivka and White Hill of Donetsk Oblast. Delivered air strikes in the area of Vasylkivka of Donetsk Oblast. Over 20 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Predtechine, Pivnichne, Zalizne, Druzhba of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiyivka axis, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions around Keramik populated area of Donetsk Oblast. Delivered air strikes in the areas of Novokalinovo and Avdiyivka, Donetsk Oblast. Over 10 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Novobakhmutivka, Ocheretine, Berdychi, Stepole, Novoselivka First, Perevomayske of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Marinka axis, forces of defense continue to hold back the Russian troops offensive in the areas of Marinka and Krasnogorivka of Donetsk Oblast. The enemy delivered an air strike in the area of Krasnogorivka, Donetsk Oblast. Over 10 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Krasnogorivka, Marinka, Pobeda, Novomikhailivka, Konstantinivka, Antonivka of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk axis, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the area of Urozhayne of Donetsk Oblast and Novodarivka of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Over 10 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Vodyane, Bogoyavlenska, Vuhledar, Prechystyvka, Velika Novosilka, Urozhayne of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia axis, the enemy delivered an air strike in the area of Robotino of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Over 25 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Novodarivka, Levadne, Malynivka, Chervone, Hulyaypole, Zaliznychne of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On the Kherson axis, over 15 populated areas suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, including Antonivka, Zelenivka, Komishany, Dniprovskoye, Kherson, Veletsenske, Tomina Balka of Kherson Oblast and Kutsurub, Ochakiv of Mykolaiv Oblast.

In the temporarily occupied village of Pereshkopavlivka in Kherson Oblast, Russian occupiers organized so-called "initiative group of parents" among local residents-collaborators with pro-Russian views. These collaborators are pressuring teachers at a local school to start classes for nearly a hundred children from Pereshkopavlivka and neighboring villages according to the Russian educational program.

The aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine delivered seven strikes against areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment of the enemy during the past day and two — on anti-aircraft missile systems. Also, our defenders destroyed two enemy attack helicopters Ka-52 and four tactical-level reconnaissance drones.

Subunits of rocket forces and artillery inflicted damage to four artillery means at firing positions, two ammunition depots, and one radar station of the enemy during the day.

In total, Ukrainian warriors liquidated 460 Russian occupiers in the past day, destroyed three tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, 24 artillery systems, two helicopters, four tactical-level reconnaissance drones, 17 cars and ten units of special equipment.
