In preparation for the final stage of Euro-2023 (U-19) in futsal, Ukraine's youth national team is participating in the traditional summer tournament Futsal Week, which takes place in Poreč, Croatia.

Our team was placed in Group B, where they faced Morocco, Poland, and Portugal. In Group A, teams from Spain, Croatia, Italy, and the Czech Republic are competing. The group stage matches are scheduled for June 20-23. The playoff games will take place on the 25th.

In previous matches at Futsal Week, our boys lost to Morocco (1:4) and Poland (2:4). Now, however, Igor Moskvichov's wards could not stand up to the Portuguese youngsters — 2:5. Interestingly, blue-and-yellow quickly took the lead in the score after goals by Denis Snitsarenko and Dmytro Rybitskyi, but then conceded five goals.

It should be noted that Ukraine's youth national team will play their final match on the Croatian tournament against Czech Republic youngsters on June 25th.

The blue-and-yellow are preparing for Euro-2023 (U-19) which will take place in Poreč from September 3rd to 10th. Joining the host Croatia, who will be the first-time hosts, are seven winners of the main round. The eight tournament participants were divided into two groups of four teams each, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals. According to the draw results, Ukraine's youth national team was placed in Group B, where they will play against Finland, Slovenia, and Italy.

As a reminder, in March Ukraine's youth national team futsal squad qualified for the final tournament of the continental championship for the third consecutive year. Within Group 2 of the main round qualification for Euro-2023 (U-19), which was held in Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia, Igor Moskvichov's wards confidently defeated Montenegro (12:1) and Romania (7:3), lost to Serbia in the decisive match (4:2), thus securing first place in the quartet.

Final Standings

The inaugural European Championship for youth futsal took place in 2019 in Rijeka, and the second edition was held in Hain in 2022 — both times (2019, 2022) Spain's team emerged as champions. The second championship was initially planned for 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ukraine's national team participated in both final tournaments. In 2019, Vitaliy Odegov's wards secured third place in their group, and in 2022 they were eliminated in the semi-finals.
