In the five-year cycle of 2018/2019–2022/2023, Ukraine currently holds the 16th position as it did before but is closing in on the top-15.
We remind you that five domestic clubs started the season-2022/2023, and three of them have already dropped out—«Dynamo» was eliminated from the Europa League, while «Vorskla» and «Zorya» left the Conference League.
On Wednesday, Ukraine scored its first points of 2023—«Shakhtar» defeated «Rennes» (2:1) in the Europa League, adding two points (or 0.4 points) to UEFA's tally. «Dnipro-1», unfortunately, did not support the miners, conceding a Conference League match to AEK (0:1).
Overall, «Shakhtar»'s tally stands at 11 points (including four bonuses for reaching the group stage of the Champions League), «Dnipro-1» has 8 points (with one bonus for reaching the Conference League playoffs), «Dynamo» has 4.5, and both «Zorya» and «Vorskla» have 1 point each. Thus, Ukraine currently has a total of 25.5 points or 5.1 points (25.5:5).
We remind you that the strategic goal for Ukraine is to secure a top-15 position in the coefficient table because if it falls below this, the association loses one Champions League slot and delegates four clubs to European competitions.
After Norway's 15th place team, «Bude-Glimt», scored 0.25 points, we have closed in on the 15th position by a hair. A deficit of 0.1 point is equivalent to one point (one draw). Ukraine trails Czechia at 14th by 0.15 points, which also equals one point. We've narrowed our gap from Switzerland's 13th place as well—by 0.275 points (equaling two points) because «Basel» lost their match. At the same time, Ukraine has increased its lead over Denmark to 1.075 points (6 points), since «Midtjylland» drew.
This table determines representation for the European season-2024/2025, in which a change is planned to switch group stages to a Swiss system with an increase in participants to 36. The overall representation from associations and starting grids in all three tournaments still need UEFA's approval.
