"Open Football Festivals" in Zaporizhia Oblast

At the end of September in Zaporizhia, the "Open Football Festival" took place as part of Mass Football Week, which the Ukrainian Association of Football organizes jointly with UEFA.

The project's goal is to engage children in mass football, create a space for activity and communication, provide psychosocial support, and important knowledge about safety during wartime.

The festival in Zaporizhzhia brought together 69 children aged between 7 and 12 years. At five football locations, they worked with coaches: lively games, football relays, and various activities.

An interactive zone from the State Emergency Service and a location with a psychologist also worked separately.

Within the project, representatives of the UAF — Yevgeniy Stolitenko and Denis Sukhoruk — visited Zaporizhzhia.

At the opening of the festival, Mykola Beliy, head of the Zaporizhzhian Football Association, addressed the participants. Also, a tour was conducted at the Museum of Zaporizhzhian Football for guests.

And this story does not end with one festival. Based on its results, a sports section will be formed by the Ukrainian Football Association.

The project is implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association within the framework of the donor program "Restoration and Resilience under Youth Leadership in Ukraine" with support from the Cultural Projects Association and organization CISU (Civil Society in Development) from Denmark.

The Ukrainian Football Association's project "Open Football Festivals" is:

— youth leadership and development of volunteering in communities;

— psychosocial support for children of military service members in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), children of internally displaced persons, and children affected by war;

— an inclusive environment in which everyone participates regardless of abilities and gender, including children with special educational needs;

— knowledge about safety in wartime;

— the philosophy of mass football — joy from playing instead of results at any cost;

— the first football experience for children.
