Tuesday, March 14 in Cartagena, Spain, the Ukrainian WU-17 girls' team concluded their participation in the second qualifying round for Euro-2025 in Group A with a match against Iceland.

In previous matches, the blue-and-yellow team lost to Spain (1:2) and Belgium (0:2). To secure their place in Group A, our girls needed a victory against Iceland. It should be noted that the match took place not in Murcia as initially planned but in Cartagena at La Manga Club stadium.

The Icelandic team scored first in the 24th minute, but Ukrainian players could have equalized before halftime, including a missed opportunity by Artemenko. In the second half, our team turned the tide thanks to goals from Lespuh and Koliad, and they did not allow their opponents to capitalize on their chances.

Thus, the blue-and-yellow team concluded the mini-tournament with a victory — 2:1 and secured third place in the group, retaining their spot in Group A.

Final Standings

In the second qualifying round, seven teams will be determined to join the Faroe Islands in the final stage of the European Championship for women's under-17 teams. Additionally, teams moving from one league to another are decided.

In Group A, 28 teams compete across seven groups, including seven teams that advanced from Group B after the first round. The seven group winners in Group A will secure spots for the final stage of Euro-2025, which will take place from May 4 to 17, 2025. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the next season in Group B.

In Group B, 21 teams across six groups compete for promotion back to Group A for the following round of qualifying.
