Turiysk has already become the third center of the UEFA PLAYMAKERS project in Volyn after Lutsk and Rozhishche, which we wrote about earlier.

The local community is being looked after by the project, implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association and the Volyn Football Association, by coaches Yuri Boris and Alina Sychovska (AFV coordinator - Vasyl Kukhanovsky).

"In our Turiysk community, we managed to organize sections of the project in two locations - at the Solyvychivsky lyceum and the Turiyska DYSHS," says Yuri Boris. "We started with interesting material based on Disney's 'Encanto' movie motifs. We recruited two groups of 15 girls aged 5-8 years old and informed parents and children about the goals and tasks of the project. At first, we held sessions once a week, then began holding them twice."

The children really enjoyed participating in various games, exercises and tasks built around Disney movie plots as well as competing in teams. Overall, the project encourages girls to be more open in communication and friendship."

Goals of the UEFA PLAYMAKERS program, which is being implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association:

  • to introduce girls to football by creating an environment for them where fun, friends and football are at the center;
  • to introduce a new individual coaching approach that uses imagination (inspired by Disney stories and characters) as a tool for training and acquiring football skills;
  • to develop life skills, basic movement skills and teach the basics of football to foster lifelong interest in the sport.
