On July 30, the Ukraine Olympic team played their third group stage match of the 2024 Games football tournament, losing to Argentina (0:2) and ending their campaign.
"Perhaps the result doesn’t reflect the game. It doesn't match the reality. The outcome was determined by individual player moments. Argentina had that individual brilliance, which is why the score stands as it does. In terms of the game itself, we undoubtedly played better than Argentina and didn't deserve to lose.
I’m proud of the boys, they are fantastic and can compete with top teams. But to do this, they need to maintain that fire in every match. Playing seven-hour matches in Ukraine takes a toll.
We thank the players for their attitude. The fact that we are in this tournament is a significant achievement for our country. In the future, if the boys continue to believe in their game, we will have victories at the Olympic Games. God willing, the war will end, and there will be peace," said Ukraine's Olympic team head coach Ruslan Rotan, as quoted by the exclusive broadcaster Suspilne Sport.
