President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, reporting on updates from the MVS, DSNZS, regional authorities regarding the work of our air defense system and the need to increase the effectiveness of mobile fire groups.
"Dear Ukrainians,
Several important things today. I started my day with new appointments. Then came reports from our military about the situation on the front lines, as well as updates from MVS, DSNZS, and regional authorities regarding the work of our air defense system in countering Russian strikes, mitigating consequences, and strengthening our capabilities. And now, first and foremost, I want to thank all our defenders of the sky who every night and day repel Russian drone and missile attacks as much as our current air defenses allow. Since last evening until this morning alone, forty "Shaheds" were destroyed—most of them used by Russia. Almost the entire result is due to our mobile fire groups. In various regions—Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region, Vinnytsia region, Odesa region, Mykolaiv region, Kherson region, Kirovohrad region, Cherkasy region, and our Dnipropetrovsk region... I thank every soldier who is now on duty, day and night—on rotation—who are saving our infrastructure and people. Since the beginning of the year, 359 "Shaheds" have already been shot down. The effectiveness of our defenders of the sky, the work of REB, and support from each of our partners for the air shield—is literally a lifesaver. We are working to add more efficiency to our mobile fire groups so that even more regions in Ukraine receive defensive systems for REB. This is one of the key priorities for this year.
And today, I want to especially highlight the collective of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine—every single person who works at the sites of strikes, extinguishes fires, and clears debris in Kharkiv and its region, Zaporizhzhia and its region, Kherson region, Mykolaiv region, Sumy region, Chernihiv region. In every one of our communities, there is always help, always those who save after Russian shelling. And this too—is the functionality of our state, this too—is the heroism of our people, all those individuals who simply do their job and thereby help Ukraine stand firm. Our rescuers, thank you! I also want to specifically honor today the staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv region—Master Sergeants Dmitry Pavinsky, Denis Shapovalov, Oleksiy Nazarenko, Captain Artem Yegorov, and Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Azarzov. Thank you, boys! I also want to highlight rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region—Sergeants Dmytro Pyha and Vasyl Levkov, Master Sergeant Ihor Ponomarenko, Chief Master Sergeants Mykhailo Bashlyk and Serhiy Kurichenko, as well as Major Oleksandr Dovhopol. Thank you for your dedication! And it's also worth mentioning the staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv—who always promptly mitigate the consequences of shelling and help Kyiv residents when needed. Sergeants of the Civil Defense Service Taras Romantsov, Orest Havyliuk, Serhiy Bezpalii, Master Sergeant Ivan Kagarlickyi, and Chief Master Sergeant Oleksandr Shostka. Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who has been fighting and working since February 24 to strengthen Ukraine! Thank you to all of you in Ukraine and with Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!"
