President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the need for an ambitious and active perspective for this year and about a concluding meeting regarding participation in the Davos Forum.
"I wish good health to all Ukrainians,
The main thing today.
Conducted the Command Post. Operational level - situation on the front now. Reports from commanders. Various directions. East. South. Also north - countering sabotage groups, strengthening the border.
There was also a strategic level discussion - our actions this year. Not just defensive ones. Ukraine needs an ambitious and active perspective. So that it is our country's initiative, not the enemy's. So that the end of the war depends on Ukrainian actions. The world supports those who have a vision. And this fundamental task - to maintain the initiative so there is an opportunity to become stronger.
Conducted and concluded a meeting after all meetings and talks - official visit to Switzerland, participation in the Davos Forum. There were many good, useful meetings. Europe, America, Africa, Asia. We spoke with politicians and business leaders.
Today government officials continued their work at the forum. In particular, to attract more business and technological opportunities to Ukraine - in the defense sector. It is very important that we represent not only our needs, those of Ukraine and our soldiers, all of society, but also despite all the war challenges we present the capabilities of Ukraine - what we are doing, what we can do, how we can strengthen common security in Europe.
Conducted a separate meeting with the Minister of Defense. Preparing more strength for our country.
Meeting with law enforcement officers. In particular, I was at a meeting with the head of the Security Service of Ukraine. Main report - about countering collaborators, about destroying enemy logistics. I am grateful to the service for its results.
Separately - regarding the situation with our journalists. Particularly concerning surveillance of journalists. The Security Service of Ukraine has begun an investigation and will clarify all circumstances. Any pressure on journalists is unacceptable.
Especially today, I want to highlight and thank everyone who continues to work day and night helping after Russian strikes. Our rescuers - State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Local authorities who really with their communities, really with their people. Every Ukrainian doctor. All medical workers. Volunteers. Everyone who helps Kherson and the Kherson region, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, residents of our frontline and border communities, Kharkiv and the oblast.
Today there was another Russian air strike on the Kupyansk district - two children were injured, including a boy, 10 years old. Very serious injury... One person died from that strike. My condolences... This was a completely deliberate Russian strike with guided bombs just into one of the villages in the Kupyansk district. Kherson: almost continuous shelling. Sadly, there are also injuries and deaths. We will definitely respond to the occupiers. And everyone sees that our responses to them really hurt.
It is also important always not to forget to thank those whose work is to rescue after Russian terrorist strikes.
Kharkiv: Igor Fedorchenko, 6th State Fire and Rescue Unit, and Oleksandr Huzhva from the 9th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the oblast. I thank you!
Odesa: doctor Vladyslav Kryzhanyovskyy from the Odesa Regional Emergency Medical Center and firefighters-rescuers sergeant Konstantin Vylchynskyi and master-sergeant Serhiy Piyar. I thank you!
Donetsk: Vladyslav Galushko, paramedic from the city of Lyman, working in DSNZU, and firefighter-rescuer from the city of Toretsk Ivan Ponomarenko. Thank you to both of you!
Our Sumy region: Volodymyr Pylypenko and Oleksandr Nebilitsia, workers of the 8th State Fire and Rescue Unit of DSNZU oblast, as well as Vladyslav Lisokon', city of Shostka, paramedic at the emergency medical center. Thank you for your professionalism to all our doctors, all your colleagues, everyone in the collective of DSNZU Ukraine, every brigade of emergency medicine, all doctors, paramedics, nurses and nurse brothers.
Thank you each and every one who cares about Ukraine, about our people, about our country. Thank you to everyone who destroys the occupier and works so that Russia pays for everything done.
Glory to Ukraine!"
