The blue-and-yellow team started the tournament with a loss to Italy (1:2), but confidently won against Slovenia in the next round (4:2). A victory today over Finland, a debutant at European championships, would have taken Igor Moskvin's wards into the semifinals.

The first half was spectacular, rich with shots on goal and goals. On the 5th minute, Niemelä scored from a penalty kick to put Finland ahead; our boys responded with an effective double by Snitarenko and a goal by Rybickiy after a corner. Nevertheless, Suomi quickly reduced the deficit through Pelto's efforts. At the 12th minute, Ukrainians scored again — Rybickiy completed his brace with a precise shot into the far corner. But before halftime, Finland managed to narrow the gap to its minimum thanks to Sylva's goal.

The second half began with attacks by the blue-and-yellow team, who quickly increased their own lead. First, Rybickiy completed a hat-trick, then Pelycky scored, and on the 28th minute Skychyk netted for our side. Finland responded with a goal of their own at the 32nd — Taipale managed to slide the ball past the goalkeeper. This was the last goal in the match — 7:4 in favor of Ukraine.

By securing three points, Ukrainians guaranteed themselves advancement from the group stage. Moreover, blue-and-yellow managed to take first place thanks to their victory over Slovenia against Italy (4:2). Our boys' semifinal match will be held on September 8th against the second-placed team in Group A, which turned out to be Spain.
