President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about preparing a new powerful sanctions list for individuals working on aggression and about ensuring energy security for our people and businesses.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today is a busy day.
First – the Command Post. The main focus – fighting for Avdiivka and Bakhmut, for Luhansk region, for every direction where the enemy tries to break through Ukraine's defense.
And I thank each soldier, sergeant, officer, and general who stands against this. Who is securing Ukraine’s resilience – the entire state – exactly there, in battles at the hottest points of the front line.
At the Command Post, commanders of sectors, chiefs, and reconnaissance reported.
Separately – preparation for new brigades. Supplying ammunition and weapons to the troops.
Secondly. The Security Service together with the government, together with ministries are preparing a new powerful sanctions list of individuals who work on aggression. They will be blocked.
Thirdly. I held a lengthy meeting regarding energy issues – both strategic ones – development and protection of our energy system under any circumstances – as well as current issues – about ensuring energy security for our people and Ukrainian businesses.
Fourthly. We are adding a new tradition of respect to the official life of our state.
Hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Ukraine and Muslim communities around the world – different countries, different peoples – observe Ramadan fasting strictly during this sacred period. When the sun sets, iftar – evening meal – takes place.
In Ukraine, it is respected everywhere, even on the front lines, even under combat conditions. The Crimean Tatar people respect Ramadan. Respect must always be mutual. Therefore, from this year onwards, every year in Ukraine, a special event of respect will take place with the participation of the Head of State. And today for the first time – at the Crimean Tatar cultural center.
The world needs to know – respect and order will return to international relations only when the Ukrainian flag returns to Crimea, where there is freedom – just as everywhere in Ukraine.
I had the honor of awarding our warriors, Ukrainian Muslims who fight alongside all forces defending Ukraine. I had the honor of sharing iftar with our warriors, representatives of the Mejlis, and the entire Ukrainian Muslim community.
And I want to thank everyone in the great global Muslim community who supports our principle – that no one is allowed to destroy peace by aggression, which God has given equally to all on earth, which every nation values as much as we do in Ukraine.
And fifthly. Today I signed several decrees awarding state honors to our warriors. 771 fighters.
Mechanized brigade soldiers, assault brigades, territorial defense brigades, our air defenders, tactical aviation, artillery, reconnaissance units, engineering brigades, tank crews. In total, during the full-scale war, over 43,500 of our defenders and defenderesses have been awarded state honors.
I thank everyone who defends the state! Glory to all who are now in battle for Ukraine!
And I congratulate everyone celebrating Annunciation today! We pray for victory of our warriors and salvation of all our people from the evil of occupation!
Glory to Ukraine!"
