President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about the preparation of new large-scale reforms in our country and what will make a reliable and lasting peace inevitable.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
A brief report on today's day.
We are finalizing our preparations for the Ukraine-EU summit, which is scheduled for this week. The entire week will be fully dedicated to Eurointegration. We expect news for Ukraine. We await decisions from our partners in the EU that will correspond to the level of interaction between our institutions and the EU and our progress. Progress that is evident even amid a full-scale war.
Today, I held a lengthy meeting with the international cabinet and the Office. We are preparing Ukrainian positions for negotiations with representatives from the EU.
And very importantly — we are preparing new reforms in Ukraine. Reforms that will change social and political realities in many aspects — making them more humane, transparent, and effective. But these details — later, after the results of relevant meetings.
I held several meetings today — as I do every day — with military personnel and the head of intelligence. We are thoroughly analyzing the situation on all major operational fronts both currently and in the future. What the occupier is preparing for, and how we are already responding to Russia's attempts at revenge.
Our defense forces, state authorities, our partners — we all together aim our efforts so that not only will Russia fail on the battlefield but also lose its last hope of aggression. The defeat of Russia will make a reliable and lasting peace inevitable. I thank all our partners who support Ukraine's position.
Today, I spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. I informed him about the situation on the front — about constant assaults in Donetsk, the situation in the south, and existing threats. We discussed how we can enhance our defensive cooperation. Specifically, we touched upon the issue of sanctions and international isolation of Russia.
In particular, I thank Justin for understanding our call to international Olympic structures regarding the impermissibility of any actions by a state-terrorist. The Olympic movement and international sports in general must be protected from fairly common attempts by Russia to politicize sports — we have seen this repeatedly at different times. Now, Russian politicalization of sports inevitably means justifying terrorism. This cannot be allowed. And only together can the free world protect sports from those sporting bureaucrats who for some reason are willing to close their eyes to reality.
I also spoke today with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. I thanked him for the robust defense package that was recently approved. We discussed our cooperation on international forums, especially at the UN. We talked about sanctions against Russia and another sanction package. Also, we spoke about cooperation in protecting sports and the Olympic movement from propaganda of terror.
And one more thing.
There is now a certain personnel lull... But this does not mean that all necessary steps have already been taken. There will be decisions. Those in the system who do not meet principled requirements of the state and society should not stay in their seats.
I thank everyone who defends the country! I thank everyone who fights for Ukraine!
I thank you for every position held on the front!
And also for every enemy position destroyed!
Glory to Ukraine!"
