This year, the Ukrainian women's youth national team WU-19 will participate in matches of League A of the second qualifying round for Euro 2023 and will try to qualify for the final tournament.
According to the approved UEFA Women’s Football Committee and UAF Executive Board Unified calendar of events in women's football for 2023, Valeriy Palamarchuks' wards will start their work on March 31, as the second qualifying round of League A Euro 2023 is expected at the beginning of April. Blue and yellow will play in group 5 against teams from Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland. The tournament in our quartet will take place in Denmark from April 5 to 11.
"Rivalry in Copenhagen will be played on artificial turf. That's why we plan beforehand that before traveling to Denmark, we will hold a three-day camp in Lviv where we will train on such surfaces as well. It should also help that two spring rounds of the Ukrainian Premier League, on March 18 and 25, will also take place on synthetic pitches," — said Valeriy Palamarchuks earlier in a UAF comment.
In October-November, the Ukrainian women's youth national team WU-19 will face matches of a new cycle — Euro 2024 qualifiers, whose draw will take place in June.
Euro 2023 (WU-19). Second round
In League A, seven groups with a total of 28 teams are playing, including seven national teams that rose from League B after the first round. Seven group winners in the second round of League A (and the best runner-up if Belgium finishes first in their group) will earn tickets to the final stage, matches of which will take place from July 18 to 30. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the next season's first round in League B.
Teams in League B, including those that dropped out after the autumn phase from League A, are competing in seven groups (three with four participants each and four with three) for tickets to the first round of League A in the next cycle.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian women's youth national team secured the third spot in their group during the first round and retained their place in League A.
