In the first half, the Germans had a significant advantage, creating several dangerous moments. On the 8th minute, Trubin held off Werner's shot from just outside the penalty area, but soon "Leipzig" went ahead. Nkunku intercepted the ball near Shakhtar’s penalty box, passed to Werner, whose shot was parried by Trubin, but on the rebound, the same Nkunku put the ball in the net.

On the 62nd minute, Soboslay capitalized on Nkunku's pass, dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net.
