Kyiv Dynamo continues to remain without points in the Europa League group stage, losing to French Rennes.
After previous defeats in the Europa League against Fenerbahçe (1:2) and AEK (0:1), the white-and-blue team found themselves in a precarious position in Group V. Thus, Dynamo players had to take points from the fourth-placed team of last season's French championship.
Rennes boldly started the match, pressing the visitors into their own penalty area. The French created many opportunities in the first half-hour. For instance, on the 8th minute, Maier finished a combination play with an effort over the bar. Later, Boyko parried a dangerous long-range shot from Bourigeaud and Ter’Hy missed the near post after a teammate's pass.
On the 23rd minute, the hosts finally scored — a sweeping attack ended with Guirassy passing to Ter'Hy who, from the left side of the penalty area, beat Boyko. Shortly afterwards, Maier shot narrowly wide. Dynamo eventually responded on the 33rd minute, and their attack proved goal-scoring. Dubynchak passed into the box for Besedin, who laid it off to Buyalskyi, who then played it through to Tsiganov, who scored with his second attempt past Mandanda.

In the second half, the hosts continued to dominate and repeatedly threatened Dynamo's goal. Boyko had to save from Taiat and Bourigeaud. The Kyiv team responded with a shot by Kabaev on level terms in the 77th minute, later Sidorchuk scored over the bar from a rebound. And yet Rennes managed to score their second goal near the end of the match — Popov made an error near the penalty area and Désiré D'Ursin intercepted the ball and beat Boyko. Thus, in summary, the white-and-blues lost for the third consecutive time in the Europa League.
In Dynamo's lineup were players who were called up to the national team recently: Zabarnyi (yellow card), Sidorchuk, Tsiganov (goal, substituted on 86th minute), Karavaev (substituted in at 86th minute).
