"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!

On this day 32 years ago, the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine was adopted. This was the first document at that level after many years that affirmed our nation's right to live independently. Independently and democratically. The specific points of the declaration reflected the realities of that time and the hopes prevailing in our society. Thirty-two years later, after eight years of war in Donbas and on the 143rd day of full-scale war against Russia, it may seem that the text of the declaration could have been different, especially from a security perspective. But at that time, this text was revolutionary. The Declaration revived the tradition of Ukrainian state-building, and it was based on this that the Act Proclaiming Independence of Ukraine was later adopted. And today, when our people are fighting for independence, we — in every sense of the word: historically, politically, culturally, and very importantly — legally. 

Ukraine has withstood Russia's brutal attacks. We have already managed to liberate part of the territory that was occupied after February 24. Gradually we will free other regions of our country that are currently under occupation. We were able to gain candidate status for EU membership during such a war. We maintained the stability of state institutions. We rebuilt the energy system to work within Europe's power grid. We redirected all logistical processes in the country — military and economic. And most importantly — we have preserved internal unity, overcoming conflicts and disputes that hindered us in the past.

We must remember the price of mistakes and chaos that complicated previous generations' path to the results we see today. We must remember how much our people had to endure before it became possible to restore sovereignty and independence for Ukraine. But our time has added one more thing to what the past teaches us. A very important one. Something that never happened before. Never in the past was so much dependent on Ukrainians' ability to be extremely cautious and careful in the information field. Even today, a fake about a massive Russian missile strike on Ukraine scared many people. After everything that has been happening in recent weeks. After Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Hryshynivka... How many nerves are wasted every day by the dissemination of scare stories from Russian propagandists and officials... How many problems do Ukrainians create for themselves by trusting any anonymous source... This sometimes takes on simply unhealthy forms when social media and websites spread deliberate «hoaxes» from Russia, whose only purpose is to add information terror to the missile and artillery terror against our country.

Therefore, we need a kind of emotional sovereignty as well, so that we do not depend on what the enemy constantly launches against us. So that we do not play into their informational game against Ukraine. To have the strength to consciously perceive any information and messages, no matter who they come from. And see whom they are needed for and why, whether they are beneficial for us and how they ease our path to victory.

Sometimes informational weapons can do more than conventional ones. Clearly, Russia's missiles and artillery will not break our unity or knock us off course. And it should be equally clear that Ukrainian unity cannot be broken by lies or scare tactics, fake news or conspiracy theories.

We will stand firm. We will win. We will earn what is ours and build our lives. We will do this together — only thus is it possible. This is possible only without mutual undermining. It is our duty to all generations of our people who fought for our freedom and sovereignty in Ukraine.
