In the decisive match of the second continental championship in history, two Pyrenean teams faced each other. The day before, in the semi-finals, Spain defeated Ukraine (9:0), while Portugal overcame Hungary (6:0).
It should be noted that Portugal and Spain played in the final of Euro-2019 as well, which also took place in Gondomar, Portugal. And just like three years ago, this year's victory was celebrated by "Furia Roja." The hosts led by two goals throughout the match, but the Spaniards managed to extend the game into extra time. In overtime, both teams scored a goal each, and Portugal failed to convert three double-penalties. Only in the penalty shootout did the stronger side emerge as Spain — 4:1.
We remind you that bronze medals at Euro-2022 were won by Ukraine, which defeated Hungary in the match for third place.
