President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about terrorist missile strikes by the aggressor and additional arguments in talks with partners.
"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!
All our defenders!
45 Russian missiles over one night and morning today. Volyn region, Lviv oblast, Chernihiv oblast, Mykolaiv. Evening — more rockets. Different types, different launch areas... All of them were launched with the same goal — to show that Russia can somehow exert pressure, that the Russian army might succeed.
Today marks the fifth month of full-scale war. The occupiers planned to capture a large part of our country in five days, but they are now forced to stage such missile demonstrations on their fifth month, which strategically changes nothing for Russia. This is a phase of the war — morally difficult, emotionally challenging. When we know that the enemy will not succeed anyway, when we understand that we can still defend our state, but do not feel the time limits of this, do not feel how many more blows, losses, efforts it will take before we see victory on our horizon.
For this reason, Russia needs these missile strikes on cities across the country, artillery and mortar fire in border regions of our state, in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk region. This is not just the destruction of our infrastructure; it is also a very cynical, calculated pressure on the emotions of our people.
But this does not break us; we will be the ones to exert pressure. No Russian missiles, no strikes can break the spirit of Ukrainians. And every one of their rockets — is an argument in our talks with partners.
I will participate in the G7 summit as early as Monday. NATO's summit will take place this week too. 45 missiles over half a day and just before such meetings. Everything is clear. Another confirmation of our position. This confirms that sanctions packages against Russia are insufficient, more military aid for Ukraine is needed, and modern air defense systems — the ones available to our partners — should be in Ukraine where they are currently needed more than anywhere else.
And one more thing worth saying today after such a missile strike. In four months of war, over 20 thousand Ukrainian soldiers have been awarded state honors. Precisely, 20,463. These are the Armed Forces, National Guard, border guards, our rescuers, police, intelligence services, Security Service, our medics, State Emergency Service, special units of NABU, DBR and employees of Court Security Service... 156 soldiers received the title Hero of Ukraine. This is the scale of bravery, this is the level of resistance. And if only those whose feats have already been honored with awards number over 20 thousand, then what missiles can anyone in Russia hope for? What artillery, what mines could help the occupiers when they face real mass and popular resistance?
Therefore, all our cities — Severodonetsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, — we will return them all. Every week we are advancing towards Kherson. We never forgot about Melitopol, Berdyansk, Enerhodar and Mariupol. And all other temporarily occupied cities of Ukraine will be Ukrainian again. Thanks to our heroes, thanks to every single one who does not tire, who does not give in to emotional breakdowns, who fights and knows that victory is ahead. Our victory and only ours.
Eternal glory to all those defending Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!"
