Yesterday, the blue-and-yellow team conducted a friendly match with all relevant attributes. After the game, head coach of the national team Oleksandr Petrakov evaluated his players.
"I am satisfied with the boys, I liked how they played. We modeled Scotland's tactics — one team played in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation. We also simulated set pieces. The match ended in a tough draw, and I enjoyed it."
Work on determining the players' level continues. Analysts will tell us how far each player ran during the game. This is our internal matter. On Friday morning we have one recovery session, then Ukrainian children who were forced to leave the country will visit us. We will meet with them and give them something.
We were very well received in Slovenia, like at home. People did everything they could to make us comfortable, asked how our affairs are going, what we wished for. They gave us the opportunity to play on the central pitch. There are no questions. The training camp went very well, the boys did great, everyone followed through. So I am very satisfied.
The players' mindset is combative. You don't need to push them or say much. They understand everything, experienced footballers with a reputation. As for the future schedule, on May 27 we have recovery, on May 28 — training, on May 29 — two sessions, and on May 30 we train in the morning, then eat lunch and fly to Glasgow,"— said Oleksandr Petrakov.
Reminder, the match of the UEFA Euro 2024 playoff semifinal between Scotland and Ukraine will take place on June 1 at Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow (9:45 PM).
