Today's day at the blue-and-yellow camp differed from the rest. After intense double training sessions on Wednesday, the first half of Thursday did not contain any exercises or activities.
However, early morning theory already set the boys up for an important evening event — a 90-minute two-sided game. The seriousness of the approach was evident from the fact that theoretical sessions were conducted separately for each team — yellow and blue, one of which had to adhere to Scotland's national style. Actions of one collective were led by two Alexanders — head coach Petракov and his assistant Shovkovsky, while the other was handled by first assistant Andriy Annenkov and analyst Abraham Kampomar. Although it was an internal match, it included all necessary attributes for a full-fledged game — setup, separate changing rooms, playing gear, and joint performance of the national anthem before the starting whistle.
The boys carried seriousness and responsibility onto the football field: the game turned out to be intense and rich in playing moments. However, it was closed nature, so the teams' compositions the coaching staff prefers not to announce since they are currently working on determining players' readiness for the match against Scotland.
Twenty-two footballers participated in the two-sided game, including all three goalkeepers present now at the camp. All field players spent 90 minutes on the pitch.
The match ended with a tough draw — 1:1. Each of our goal scorers scored one goal each — Roman Yaremchuk (from play) and Artem Dovbik (from a penalty).
However, the word "tough" is far from a journalistic cliché: the boys created scoring moments and strived for victory until the final whistle of the Slovenian referee who stopped one of the teams in attack.
Today was the last day of rehabilitation program for Mykola Shaparenko, who will be ready to return to the main group tomorrow. Denis Popov is also approaching, who will join the team in two or three days.
