General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: operational information regarding the Russian invasion (as of 06:00 21.05.2022)

Note for Your Attention — Operational Information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 21, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

The eighty-seventh day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone with the aim of establishing full control over the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as maintaining a land corridor with temporarily occupied Crimea.

Shelling is ongoing along the entire line of contact and deep into our defense positions in the Donetsk operational district and on the Svyatogorodskiy axis.

In the Volyn and Polesie Directions the situation has not undergone significant changes overall. An increase is noted in the deployment of radio-electronic reconnaissance and countermeasures systems near Ukraine's border areas.

There remains a threat of missile and air strikes on objects of our state from Belarusian territory.

In the Northern Direction the enemy shelled positions of the Defense Forces in the vicinity of Ukrainian border settlements in Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

In the Slobozhanskyi Direction the main efforts of the enemy are focused on holding occupied lines. The enemy carried out air strikes against the populated area of Tsirkuny.

In the near future, an increase in military units is expected on the Kharkiv axis by divisions from the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District.

In the Svyatogorodskiy Direction the aggressor attempts to renew offensive actions. In particular, for securing the crossing of the Seversky Donets River, plans are being made to establish a pontoon bridge.

In the Donetsk Direction the enemy is conducting active combat operations on the Severodonetsk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Krasny Liman axes.

In the Lyman Direction occupiers plan to renew offensive actions towards Yampil-Siversk with crossing of the Seversky Donets River. In particular, in a designated area, the concentration of special equipment for pontoon bridge construction is observed. To strengthen military units and activate the offensive, occupiers are carrying out the transfer of additional subunits.

In the Zaporizhzhia Direction the enemy carried out artillery strikes against our troops.

In Mariupol the enemy is taking measures to restore port operations. In particular, it conducts repairs of port infrastructure.

In the Southern Bug and Tavriyskyi Directions occupiers are concentrating their main efforts on holding occupied lines, conducting reconnaissance, engineering fortifications, and logistical support for troops.

In the Kryvyi Rih and Mykolaiv Directions the enemy continues to conduct artillery strikes against our units. An additional deployment of subunits of field and rocket artillery is noted.

Ships of the enemy's Black Sea Fleet in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas are carrying out tasks for isolating the area of combat operations, conducting reconnaissance, and providing fire support on the coastal axis.

Russian invaders continue to use terror tactics against Ukrainian civilian population in temporarily occupied territories. In particular, they hinder evacuation from Kherson region to Ukrainian-controlled territory and opening humanitarian corridors for food supplies, medicines, and evacuation of elderly people, sick individuals, and children.

Over the past day alone, eleven enemy attacks were repelled on the Donetsk and Luhansk axes, eight tanks, three artillery systems, ten units of armored combat vehicles, three special armored cars, and six units of motorized equipment of the enemy were destroyed.

Subunits of anti-aircraft defense forces damaged two tactical-level UAVs, while air force missile units destroyed one UAV, a cruise missile, and hit an unidentified target (likely a helicopter).

We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Together we will win! Glory to Ukraine!
