In the current season of the Women's Champions League, for the first time in history, a group stage has been held, and an Ukrainian team -  Kharkiv "Zhitlobud-1"  qualified.

Unfortunately, the participation of our athletes in this prestigious tournament ended. The 2022/2023 season of the Women's Champions League will be the second to be held in a new format.

Format of Conduct

Group Stage

16 teams will be divided into four groups, where they will play each other home and away from October to December. The winners of the top two spots will advance to the quarter-finals. This stage will begin in March 2023. Quarter-final and semi-final matches will consist of two games each, with the final being a single match held in Eindhoven.

Qualification

Four teams receive direct entry to the group stage, while the remaining twelve spots will be determined through qualification rounds on the Champions Path (7 places) and League Path (5 places).

Qualification in both paths is identical. In the first round, teams compete in mini-tournaments, with winners advancing further.

In the second round, teams are paired off and play each other home and away. If more than 50 teams participate, a preliminary round will be held on the Champions Path where teams play each other home and away.

Number of Clubs

The list of participants is based on the UEFA Women's Club Ranking at the end of the 2020/2021 season. Ukraine holds 22nd place in it.

The top six associations in the ranking — France, Germany, England, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic — enter three teams each.

The next ten associations — Denmark, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Italy, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Belarus, Austria — send two teams each.

Other associations are represented by one participant. The representative of Ukraine in the Champions League will be the champion of the top league for the 2021/2022 season. They will start in the first round of the Champions Path.

Start of the Tournament

The current champions and champions of the three best associations (France, Germany, England) immediately qualify for the group stage.

Champions from other associations enter the Champions Path qualification. Champions of associations ranked fourth to sixth in the ranking (Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic) start the tournament from the second round, while others start from the first round (if a preliminary round is not held).

Vice-champions of the six strongest associations (France, Germany, England, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic) begin the tournament from the second round of the League Path.

Third-place finishers in these six associations and second-place winners in the next ten associations (Denmark, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Italy, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Belarus, Austria) enter the competition from the first round of the League Path.
