To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 21, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and forty-fourth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our state has begun.

During the past day, the enemy carried out 29 air strikes and conducted 43 artillery attacks with multiple rocket launchers on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there were casualties among civilians. Residential buildings, an educational institution, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes across the territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the past day, more than 25 combat engagements took place.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions, the operational situation — no significant changes.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions the enemy carried out air strikes in areas southwest of Iskrishchyna and Zhuravka, Sumy Oblast. The enemy conducted mortar and artillery shelling of more than 30 populated areas. This includes Karpovichi, Bogdanove, Chernihiv Oblast; Tovstodubove, Volvino, Pokrovka, Novoaleksandrivka, Sumy Oblast, and Varvarivka, Budarki, Zemlyanka, Komisarove, Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupiansky Direction the enemy carried out an air strike west of Mykolaivka. Conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Synykhivka, Kharkiv Oblast. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy affected populated areas such as Topoli, Masutivka, Kupyansk, Kislivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman Direction the enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Shykhivka, Terni, Piskunivka, Veseloye, Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling by the enemy affected nearly 15 populated areas, including Nevske, Bihorivka, Luhansk Oblast and Tor'ske, Verhnyokamyanske, Spirene, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut Direction the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Kurdyumivka, Donetsk Oblast. Carried out air strikes in the areas of Veseloye, Klyshchyivka, Kurdyumivka, Donetsk Oblast. Over 20 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Predtechinе, Dilievka, Kurdyumivka, Ozaryanivka and Druzhba, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiyivsky Direction artillery shelling by the enemy affected populated areas such as Keramik, Stepole, Orlyvka, Avdiivka, Nevel'ske, Karlivka, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Marinka Direction forces of defense continue to hold back Russian troops in the area of Marinka, Donetsk Oblast. The enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Krasnyhorivka and Novomikhailovka, Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling by the enemy affected populated areas such as Krasnyhorivka, Marinka, Pobeda, Oleksandropil, Paraskevivka and Yelizavetivka, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsky Direction the enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Staromajorskoye, Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling by the enemy affected populated areas such as Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolotaya Niva, Blagodatne, Urozhayne, Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia Direction the enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Charyvane, Robotino, Pavlivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Over 30 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Novodarivka, Chernaya Krinitsa, Mala Tokmacha, Mali Shcherbaki, Stepole, Pyatikhataki, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

On the Kherson Direction the enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Olhyvka and Sadovoye, Kherson Oblast. Over 20 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Zolotaya Balka, Kazatske, Tokaryvka, Ponyativka, Kherson, Velyten'ske, Kizomys, Kherson Oblast.

At the same time, forces of defense of Ukraine continue to conduct offensive operations on Melitopol and Berdyansk Directions, consolidate on gained lines, carry out counter-battery measures.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces carried out nine strikes against areas of enemy personnel concentration during the past day.

Subunits of rocket forces and artillery inflicted one command post and three artillery systems on firing positions during the past day.

Overall, Ukrainian soldiers liquidated 460 Russian occupiers in the past day, destroyed 12 tanks, 14 armored combat vehicles, 19 artillery systems, two MLRS, five tactical drones, 12 vehicles and four units of special equipment.
