To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 6, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and twenty-ninth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our country has begun.

During the evening of August 5 through the morning of August 6, Russian occupiers launched a massive missile strike on Ukrainian territory using air- and sea-based cruise missiles as well as Iranian Shahed attack drones.

In the first wave, in the evening of August 5, the enemy used 14 sea-launched cruise missiles "Kalibr" and three aeroballistic missiles Kh-47 "Kinjal". Twelve out of fourteen "Kalibrs" were destroyed by air defense systems. Information about the "Kinjals" is not being disclosed.

During the night from August 5 to August 6, the enemy continued attacking with Shahed attack drones from a southeast direction, cruise missiles "Kalibr" — from the Black Sea area and cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555 — from strategic bombers Tu-95MS in the Caspian region.

Our defenders destroyed all 27 Shahed-136/131 attack drones, five out of six "Kalibr" missiles (second wave), and thirteen out of twenty air-launched cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh555.

So in total over several hours from the evening of August 5 to the morning of August 6, the enemy used seventy means of aerial attack.

In summary, air defense systems destroyed:

— Seventeen "Kalibr" cruise missiles;

— Thirteen Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;

— Twenty-seven Shahed attack drones.

During the past day, the enemy carried out twenty missile and sixty-two air strikes. Used four Shahed attack drones — all were destroyed. Also, occupiers conducted sixty-eight rocket artillery barrages on our troops' positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians, residential buildings have been damaged.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the day, over thirty combat engagements took place.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions, the operational situation — no significant changes.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions, the enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Odnorobivka, Streletcha, Gatyshchya Kharkiv region. Conducted mortar and artillery shelling of more than thirty populated places, including Buchtchi, Hreminycha, Veselye Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Bobilivka, Studenok, Myropillya, Grabovske Sumy region and Karaiychine, Budarki and Zemlyanka in Kharkiv.

On the Kupyansk Direction, our soldiers firmly hold the defense, successfully repelled enemy attacks near Vilschanaya and Synkivka Kharkiv region. The enemy carried out air strikes near Kislivka and Krokhmalnoye. Enemy artillery and mortar shelling was suffered by more than ten populated places, among them — Figolivka, Dvorychyna, Zapadne, Kupyansk, Kislivka and Berestove Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman Direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Bihorivka Luhansk region. Carried out air strikes in the areas of Nevskiy and Bihorivka on Luhansk territory and Torsky, Seredynka, Dibrova and Spilne Donetsk region. Artillery shelling by enemy was suffered by populated places Kuzminy, Bihorivka, Torske, Verkhnyokamyanske, Spilne and Rozdolyvka.

On the Bakhmut Direction, defensive forces are holding back the enemy in the area of Kurdyumivka. The enemy carried out air strikes in the areas of Khromovoye, Klyshchivka, Stupochok, Dilievka, Oleksandr-Shultyno and New York Donetsk region. Over fifteen populated places suffered from enemy artillery shelling, among them — Tikhonivka, Chasiv Yar, Klyshchivka, Bila Hora, Predtechina and Pivnichne Donetsk region.

On the Avdiyivka Direction, our defenders successfully repelled attacks under heavy air and artillery fire in the area of Avdiyivka. The enemy carried out air strikes in the area of Novokalynovoye Donetsk region. Artillery shelling was suffered by more than ten populated places, among them — Orlivka, Stepove, Avdiyivka, Vodyane, Perevomayske and Nevelskoye Donetsk region.

On the Marinka Direction, defensive forces continue to hold back Russian troops' advance in the area of Marinka. The enemy carried out shelling of more than ten populated places, including Krasnogorivka, Marinka, Pobedy, Georgiyivka, Novomykhailovka and Konstantinivka Donetsk region.

On the Shakhtarsk Direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful attempts to regain lost positions in the area of Staryy Mayor. Carried out air strikes in the areas of Pavlivka, Zolotoye Pole and Staryy Mayor Donetsk region. Artillery shelling was suffered by Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolotoe Pole, Blagodatne, Staryy Mayor and Levadnoye on Zaporizhzhia.

On the Zaporizhzhia Direction, carrying out air strikes, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Robotino Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy is concentrating efforts to prevent further advance of our troops. Artillery shelling was suffered by more than fifteen populated places, among them — Shcherbaki, Maliy Shcherbaki, Pyatykhatskye, Stepnogirsk and Chernodniprovka Zaporizhzhia region.

On the Kherson Direction, artillery shelling by enemy was suffered by more than twenty populated places, including Ivanivka, Dniprovskoye, Bilozerka, Kizomys and Kherson Kherson region as well as Ochakiv Mykolaiv region.

At the same time, Ukrainian defensive forces continue to conduct offensive operations on Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidate on achieved lines, carry out counter-battery measures.

Air force of the Defensive Forces carried out seven strikes in enemy personnel concentration areas during the past day.

Subunits of rocket troops and artillery over the past day inflicted damage to two command points, five areas of enemy personnel concentration, weapons and military equipment, four artillery systems on firing positions, five ammunition depots and one radio-electronic warfare station of occupiers.

In total during the past day our soldiers liquidated 590 Russian occupants. The enemy lost five tanks, eleven armored combat vehicles, twenty-two artillery systems, one MLRS, ten tactical drones, twelve cruise missiles, nineteen automobiles and four units of special equipment.
