To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 5, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The fifth hundred and twenty-eighth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine is ongoing.

During the past day, the enemy carried out one rocket attack and 50 air strikes, conducted 86 shelling operations with multiple launch rocket systems. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians, residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed.

The likelihood of further missile and aerial strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains very high.

During the past day, 36 combat engagements took place.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions, the operational situation — no significant changes.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions the enemy carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Volfino and Kostyantynivka, Sumy region. Conducted mortar and artillery shelling of over 25 populated areas, including Khrynyvka, Blizhnya, Yanzhulivka, Chernihiv region; Kozache, Boyaro-Lyachy, Kindratiivka, Sumy region, and Kozacha Lopan', Mala Vovcha, Ambarne, Bolohivka in the Kharkiv region.

On the Kupyansk Direction, the enemy carried out aerial strikes in the area of Shiykivka, Kharkiv region. Artillery and mortar shelling affected over 10 populated areas, including Putynovoye, Figolivka, Podolya, and Kislyvka, Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman Direction, the enemy carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Grygoriyivka and Seredynka, Donetsk region. Artillery shelling affected over 10 populated areas, including Nevske, Bihorivka, Luhansk region; Torske, Verkhnyokamyanske, Berestove, Rozdolyvka in the Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut Direction, defensive forces are holding off the enemy in the areas of Klyshchyivka and Kurdyumyivka. The enemy carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Marokovo, Klyshchyivka, White Hill, and New York. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Predtekhine, White Hill, North, and New York in the Donetsk region.

On the Avdiyivka Direction, our defenders successfully repelled attacks under intense air and artillery fire by the enemy in the area of Avdiyivka. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Oleksandriopil, Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Severne, Nevel'ske in the Donetsk region.

On the Mariupol Direction, defensive forces continue to hold off Russian troops' advance in the areas of Mariupol, Staromikhailovka and Krasnogorivka. The enemy carried out aerial strikes near Krasnogorivka. Conducted shelling of over 10 populated areas, including Krasnogorivka, Gostre, Mariupol, Pobedy, Novomykhaylivka, Paraskovyvka, Katerynovka in the Donetsk region.

On the Shakhtarsk Direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions near Blagodatne. Carried out aerial strikes near Staromajorske. Artillery shelling affected Blagodatne, Vuhledar, Bogoyavlenska, Prechystivka, Zolotaya Niva, Velika Novosylovka in the Donetsk region and Staromajorske and Levadne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

On the Zaporizhzhia Direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions near Novopavlovyk. Carried out aerial strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmakha, Orikhovo and Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy is concentrating its efforts to prevent further advance of our troops. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Olhyvskoye, Bihor'ya, Mala Tokmakha, Novodaryivka, Maliy Shcherbak and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region.

On the Kherson Direction, the enemy carried out aerial strikes near Otradokamyanka and Dacha. Artillery shelling affected over 25 populated areas, including Red Beacon, Antonivka, Dniprovskoye, Stanislav and Kherson in the Kherson region.

At the same time, Ukrainian defensive forces continue to conduct offensive operations on Melitopol and Berdiansk Directions, consolidate on achieved lines, carry out counter-battery measures.

The enemy continues to use civilian educational institutions in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine for its own purposes. In particular, it was established that near the village of Mikhailivka, Zaporizhzhia region, about 100 Russian servicemen were stationed on the territory of a general education school.

The aviation of defensive forces carried out nine strikes against areas of enemy personnel and equipment concentration during the day. Also, our defenders destroyed two unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) of the "Shahed-136" type.

Subunits of rocket troops and artillery inflicted damage on nine artillery systems at firing positions and two areas of enemy personnel and equipment concentration during the past day.

Overall, our soldiers eliminated 620 Russian occupiers in the past day. The enemy lost four tanks, two armored combat vehicles, 32 artillery systems, 12 tactical-level UCAVs, 30 vehicles and six units of special equipment.
