In the main round of qualification for the European Women's Futsal Championship, which took place in Poznań, Poland, the blue-and-yellow team managed to secure first place in their group. In the first match, Ukraine’s national team defeated the Netherlands (5:2), in the second — they beat Croatia (5:1), and concluded the mini-tournament with a draw against Poland (1:1).

Overall, our team has qualified for continental supremacy three times in history. After the match against the hosts, head coach of the blue-and-yellow team Oleg Shaytanov shared his emotions with the press service of the Ukrainian Futsal Association.

— For a third consecutive time, Ukraine's women’s futsal national team has qualified for the final four of the Euro. How do you feel after the match?

— It is very pleasant to qualify for three European championships in a row. The girls deserve this, and I am very happy for them.

— What were your intentions going into the match against Poland, considering the group situation?

— Of course, we only talked about winning with our players. I explained to them that a draw or a minimal loss is just an option, but all thoughts should be focused on winning. That's why the game was tough, but the result of 1:1 satisfied us.

— How quickly did your opponent’s goal force you to make adjustments?

— I repeat, the game was tough, we conceded a goal but the girls focused and that was the only option.

— Did you rely more on experienced players in this match?

— Yes. You understand, these are games to qualify for one of Europe's top four teams, and they're not easy.

— What can you wish all our supporters who were present in the stands?

— Indeed, a big thank you to them for coming to support us. We felt that people were cheering for us. But the greatest thanks go to our Armed Forces, as we have the opportunity to do what we love at such a difficult time.
