The UEFA Euro 2022 (U-19) indoor football tournament is taking place in the Spanish city of Huelva. The Ukrainian youth national team continued its run in the finals with a match against the hosts, Spain.
In previous matches, Vitaliy Odegov's wards secured victories over Croatia (6:4) and Romania (5:2), thereby securing their place in the semifinals. Now, against Spain, they were deciding the first step on Group A’s ladder. Interestingly, these teams had already met at Euro 2019 (U-19) where then the Spaniards won with a score of 7:1.

The first half saw both teams playing evenly, although towards the end of it, Guiu had to make frequent interventions. Shots on goal were made by Dychuk and Rivero.
At the start of the second half, Carrazco scored after a solo run, putting Spain ahead. On the 31st minute, Smytanenko finished off a counterattack to equalize, but soon Moreno's long-range shot restored Spain’s lead. Near the end of the match, Dychuk tied it up again, but blue and yellow did not have enough time to secure victory.

The draw — 2:2 means that Spain takes the first step on the ladder in the group based on additional criteria. Ukraine will face Portugal, the winner of Group B, in the semifinals. The match is scheduled for September 8.
