"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!

Our defenders and defenderesses!

Today, one of the representatives of the Russian state announced that the occupiers allegedly started using laser weapon complexes in Ukraine. Allegedly to save missiles.

Firstly, it draws attention that they have to economize on rockets and explain this somehow. That is, more than two thousand rockets fired by the Russian army at Ukraine were mostly part of their rocket stockpile. So now—only leftovers.

Secondly, everyone has seen how Russia fights. With inexperienced conscripts whom they throw into battle as cannon fodder. Looters who see normal household equipment in a foreign country for the first time. Old Soviet armor without modern protection. Prohibited phosphorus bombs that burn schools and ordinary residential buildings.

And rockets, most of which were spent by the Russian army to destroy absolutely civilian infrastructure with no strategic military result. This night they hit Mykolaiv and Dnipro with missiles.

Well, in Nazi propaganda there was a term—wunderwaffe. Wonder weapon. The clearer it became that they had no chance of winning the war, the more talk there was about miraculous weapons that would supposedly be so powerful as to turn the tide of the war.

And now we see that on the third month of a full-scale war Russia is trying to find its "wonder weapon." Allegedly laser. This all clearly testifies to the complete failure of the invasion.

But again—this also shows that they are afraid to admit that at the highest state and military levels in Russia catastrophic mistakes were made. So they will come up with more "wonder weapons" until the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all our defenders and defenderesses gradually liberate our land.

How long will this take? The answer to that question can only be given by the real situation on the battlefield. We are trying as fast as possible. This is certain. We are obligated to drive out the occupiers and guarantee Ukraine real security.

That's why I signed decrees extending the legal regime of martial law and the period of general mobilization. I hope that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will soon support this decision. Our army and everyone who defends the state must have all legal tools to act calmly.

Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk, Enerhodar, Mariupol and all our cities and communities under occupation—temporary occupation—must know that Ukraine will return.

That our state does not abandon anyone and returns what belongs to Ukraine by right, I spoke about today in my address on the occasion of the Day of Commemorating the Memory of Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People. We remember Crimea. And we will never forget neither 1944—the genocide that the Soviet authorities carried out against the Crimean Tatars—nor 2014—the second wave of destruction on the peninsula.

I signed a law specifically today to protect people deprived of freedom by occupiers and to protect family members of such individuals. It applies to all Kremlin criminals—in Crimea, in occupied parts of Donbas. The law gives them more protection and help from the state.

We are also accumulating all possible resources worldwide to support Ukraine. I am grateful to Andriy Shevchenko, our legendary footballer, for becoming the first ambassador of our new national brand—United24.

This is a very important platform for the state right now that allows, among other things, to collect funds in support of Ukraine. Any person around the world can make their contribution to our victory with just one click. And in the direction they consider most important. For example, defense and demining, medical help or rebuilding the country.

And already at the beginning of June we will see the first special event in London featuring Andriy Shevchenko to support United24.

I thanked President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen for today's announced package of aid to our country. The amount—9 billion euros. As well as for supporting plans for rebuilding Ukraine. This step by the EU Commission is a testament to true leadership that the European Union is capable of, and will definitely help us in our fight for our shared freedom.

I spoke with the new President of the United Arab Emirates. I congratulated him on his election. Invited him to participate in post-war reconstruction of the state. We discussed the global food security threat provoked by Russia's invasion.

And, this is already a tradition, signed decrees awarding our heroes in the evening. 197 members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were honored with state awards. Five of them—posthumously.

Also today I had the honor to present orders "Golden Star" to military servicemen whom I previously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine. Among others, Colonel Serhiy Baranovskyy—for bravery and effectiveness in battles on Donbas. And Colonel Serhiy Musiyenko—for personal courage and success in battles on Kharkiv.

Eternal glory to defenders and defenderesses of Ukraine!

Eternal memory to each one who gave their life for our independence and freedom.

Glory to Ukraine!"
