In the Euro-2022 indoor football semifinal, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards will face the current UEFA ranking leader.

In the group stage of European first division, blue-and-yellow lost to the Netherlands (2:3), thrashed Serbia (6:1), and lost to Portugal (0:1), but secured second place in their quartet and advanced to the knockout stage. In the quarterfinals, Kosenko's wards defeated Kazakhstan (5:3). Thus, Ukraine’s national team has reached the top four for the first time since 2005 at a European Championship.

In today's semifinal in Amsterdam (kickoff at 18.00 Kyiv time), blue-and-yellow will face Russia, which holds the top spot in the current UEFA ranking. Our team has faced this opponent three times at European Championships and once at World Championships. Ukraine won one match but lost three.

Artem Farenyuk's and Yevgen Sirog's participation in the match is under question, as they were injured during the game against Kazakhstan. On a positive note, our boys have had an extra day of rest compared to their opponent. Moreover, blue-and-yellow had the opportunity to study their opponent by watching their quarterfinal match live.

"We are still in the tournament when we were traveling to the Netherlands; we agreed that we would take things step by step. We do not look far ahead, do not make loud statements, but want to proceed gradually. Now we only think about the semifinal," — noted head coach of Ukraine's national team Oleksandr Kosenko.
