The Ukrainian team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the TUI Socca World Championship 2025, which is taking place in Cancun, Mexico.

The main time match between Ukraine and Kazakhstan ended in a draw — 1:1, so the winner was determined by a penalty shootout. Ukraine opened the scoring with their second penalty, but Kazakhstan scored both of the next penalties — 2:1.

This is Ukraine's third appearance in the knockout stage of the world championship. In their debut tournament in 2022, blue and yellow reached the quarter-finals, while in 2023 they became finalists.

What is socca?

Socca (English. Socca) — a team sport played with a ball, a variant of football in the format of 6x6.

Unlike mini-football, socca has a larger field size (30x50 m) and a different number of players. A match consists of two halves of 25 minutes each, with teams consisting of one goalkeeper and five outfield players.

Matches are played on both natural and synthetic grass. The goal dimensions — 2x5 m.
