In their second Euro-2025 (U-21) match, Ukraine's youth team defeated Finland (2:0). After the game, coach Unai Melgosa spoke to the press.

— What are your impressions of the match?

— I think it was a decent match. In the first half, we completely controlled the game and maintained a high pace. Finland created some difficulties for us, but we were prepared for that. They concentrated many players in midfield, but we managed to cope with this. We created opportunities and could have scored more.

The second half started well too; we scored quickly after the break, and it seemed like the game was done. All that remained was to play on counterattacks and finish off the match. But things didn't go as planned, and the end was quite challenging. Finland ramped up their tempo and showed better football. The situation was somewhat similar to the Denmark match, but today we didn't concede and ultimately won.

— You made many changes in your starting lineup compared to the game against Denmark. Did you see what you wanted?

— Today, we had to play for victory, so I had to consider various factors and weigh different possible scenarios. By the way, let me emphasize that I don't have a fixed starting eleven. The player who is most ready for the match plays.

— How do you generally assess your group?

— I've been watching Denmark and Netherlands matches earlier, and I consider our group very balanced. Proof of this is the match between Finland and the Netherlands that ended in overtime. This applies not only to the current tournament. Yes, Finland previously beat Germany, and they also led against the Netherlands — 2:0. Denmark is also a very good team. So there are no easy opponents here, it's a very even mix of teams.
