Yesterday, in their opening match of this prestigious tournament, Yurii Klymenko's team lost to Poland (1:3). Today, the Ukrainians faced the hosts, Portugal.

In the first period, the Portuguese team took the initiative and created several dangerous chances, but our goalkeeper, Anastasiya Terekh, was outstanding, keeping the score at 0:0.

In the second 12-minute period, our girls started to play more actively, creating opportunities in front of the Portuguese goal. In the 19th minute, Yuliya Kostyuk scored a fantastic free-kick to put the Blue and Yellows ahead 1:0. A minute and a half before the end of the period, Yuliya took another free-kick, but this time it hit the post.

In the final period, both teams had chances to change the score, but our opponents managed to do so. At the last minute, Marta successfully converted a free kick, bringing the score to 1:1 and sending the game into overtime.

During the additional three minutes, no goals were scored, leading to a penalty shootout. The Ukrainian team prevailed 4:2, with our goalkeeper Anastasiya Terekh being the hero by saving two penalties.

Ukraine's next match in the tournament will be on September 1 against England.
