Before departure, the team was greeted at the Kyiv train station by EURO 2024 ambassador and former German national team player Arne Friedrich, who coincidentally celebrated his 45th birthday today. This fact was noted by Oleksandr Zinchenko, who not only congratulated Friedrich but also expressed respect for his visit to Ukraine on such a significant day, especially considering the challenging times the country is facing.

Friedrich mentioned his fervent support for Ukraine during the playoffs and assured that he would continue to support the team during the EURO. In a light-hearted exchange, Zinchenko jokingly asked Friedrich which team he would support if Ukraine faced Germany, to which Friedrich replied that he would wear a shirt split in half—one side Ukrainian, the other German.
Traditionally, the players distributed numerous autographs on their way to the train, symbolizing their journey towards EURO.
