As expected, the battle for a direct promotion to the first league on the final stretch has intensified.
The hidden leader — "Friendship" — made a strong claim for first place by defeating "Carpathians-2" at home 5:2. The host's striker Ivan Somov scored a hat-trick. Now the team coached by Dmitry Chyrikal is trailing FC "YUKSA" by one point but has a game in hand.
The mood among the Myrhorod players improved even more when it became known that their competitor, "Zvyagel," unexpectedly dropped points at home against "Kudryvka" — 1:1. Moreover, the visitors took the lead after Nazar Voloshin's shot and only escaped defeat in stoppage time thanks to Andriy Nesterov's penalty save. However, this was a weak consolation as "Zvyagel" is currently third.
As for "Seagull," after yesterday's draw with Vinnytsia "Niva" (0:0), it has fallen out of the promotion race.
