FIFA announced on its official website that the draw for the football tournaments at the 2024 Olympics is scheduled for March 20 in Paris. The ceremony will begin at 21:00 Kyiv time at the headquarters of the host city, Pulse. It will be broadcast live on fifa.com. Details of the draw will be released later.

As a reminder, Ukraine's men’s national team is participating in these games. Last summer, our team achieved an historic success by defeating France (3:1) in the quarterfinals of Euro 2023 (U-21) and securing a spot in the semifinals, thereby earning the right to compete at the Olympic football tournament for the first time. Along with Ukraine, Spain and Israel also earned their spots from Europe through the Euro 2023.

Currently, 12 participants of the men's football tournament at the 2024 Olympics are known to be competing between July 24 and August 9 in seven cities across France: Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, Nice, and Nantes. According to the regulations, players born after January 1, 2001 can participate in the games . Additionally, each team may include up to three older players in their roster.

In total, 16 national teams will compete: France as the host nation, three from Europe (Ukraine, Spain, Israel), three from Africa (Morocco, Egypt, Mali), three from Asia (to be determined by May 3), two from South America (Paraguay, Argentina), two from CONCACAF (USA, Dominican Republic), one from Oceania (New Zealand), and the winner of a playoff between the fourth-placed teams in Africa (Guinea) and Asia.

The format for the Olympic tournament is traditional: competition in four groups with four teams each, followed by playoffs featuring the top two teams from each group, quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and final (August 9, Paris, "Parc des Princes").

It should be noted that Brazil is currently the reigning Olympic champion in men's football, having defeated Spain (2:1) in the final at Tokyo-2020. This time around, it failed to qualify by finishing third in South America.
