To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6:00 on January 23, 2024 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The six hundred ninety-ninth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

The Russian Federation continues to ignore laws and customs of war, employs tactics of terror, carries out missile and air strikes, and shells both military and numerous civilian objects in our country with multiple rocket launchers.

During the past day, 68 combat encounters took place. In total, the enemy carried out three missile and 65 air strikes, conducted 56 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launcher systems on positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Residential private buildings and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed or damaged.

In the morning, Russian occupiers carried out a missile strike with four air defense guided missiles S-300/400 on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Kharkiv and Balakliya in the Kharkiv region.

Air strikes were suffered by Graniv, Hryhorivka, Pyskanе Kharkiv region; Novoyegorivka, Bihorivka, Serebryanе forest management Lugansk region; Terny, Rozdolyvka, Bohdanivka, Kromove, Klyshchyivka, White Mountain, Mayorivka, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Novomykhailivka, Staromayorivka Donetsk region; Novodarivka Zaporizhzhia region; Kachkarivka, Red Lighthouse, Zmiyivka, Berislav Kherson region.

More than 140 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk direction, our defenders repelled four enemy attacks near the populated area of Synkivka Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman direction Ukrainian warriors repelled an attack by aggressors near Terny Donetsk region and another five attacks around Makieivka, Bihorivka, Serebryanе forest management Lugansk region.

On the Bakhmut direction, defensive forces repelled seven enemy attacks near Bogdanivka, Klyshchyivka and Andriyivka Donetsk region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy who does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our warriors firmly hold their defense, inflicting heavy losses on occupiers. Thus, defensive forces repelled 10 attacks by the enemy in the areas of Stepanov, Avdiivka and another seven attacks near Pervomayskе and Nevelske Donetsk region during the past day.

On the Mariupol direction Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy near Georgiyivka and Novomykhailivka Donetsk region, where 21 attacks were repelled.

On the Shakhtarsk direction the enemy did not carry out offensive (assault) actions.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, our defenders repelled an attack by the enemy in the area of Robotino Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, defensive forces continue to take measures for expanding their foothold. Despite heavy losses, the enemy does not give up attempts to drive our units from occupied positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful assault on Ukrainian troops' positions.

At the same time, our warriors actively inflict casualties in manpower and equipment on occupying forces along the entire front line.

During the day, aviation of defensive forces delivered strikes against eight areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment. Also, by means and methods of Ukraine's anti-aircraft defense, one guided air-to-surface missile Kh-59 was destroyed.

Subunits of rocket troops inflicted blows on one command post, one artillery system and one radar station of the enemy.
